Ukraine said Russia used human wave tactics to try to remove `thorns` in Kherson

(Dan Tri) – Nataliia Humeniuk, spokeswoman for the Southern Operational Command of Ukraine, said that the Russian army continued to attack the `sea of people` in the village of Krynky, Kherson province, without using armored vehicles.

Speaking on television, Ms. Humeniuk said that on February 28, Russia only made one attack on Krynky but was unsuccessful because it could not rotate and reinforce troops.

This spokesman confirmed that Ukrainian soldiers `are ready to fight for positions and are trying to expand the bridgehead`.

Krynky is a small village about 30km from the city of Kherson in the province of the same name, located on the left bank currently controlled by Russia of the Dnieper River.

With the river crossing, Ukraine hopes that it can use this bridgehead as a base to begin moving armored vehicles and air defense systems across the river, moving closer to Crimea, the peninsula that Russia declared annexed.

However, on February 21, Ukraine’s Southern Combat Command denied information from the Russian side.

According to a February 20 assessment by the US-based Institute for the Study of War, Russia appears to have recaptured some areas around the village of Krynky, but Ukraine still holds a limited area in the area.

On February 27, Forbes writer David Ax reported that Ukrainian forces are not only holding Krynky but are also gradually advancing towards the nearby settlement of Kozachi Laheri, 1.6km to the west.
