On April 27, Mr. Kim Jong-un is expected to have a summit with South Korean President Moon Jae-in.
According to the BBC, before these events, North Korean media seemed to have toned down their usual drastic statements, instead building the image of Mr. Kim as a warm leader with the image of `a good man`.
According to South Korea’s Dong-A Ilbo newspaper, Mr. Kim has recently stopped appearing in public while holding a cigarette in his hand.
Known to have a smoking habit, Mr. Kim has often appeared on Pyongyang’s mass media in the past while he was using cigarettes.

In addition, the image on television of the North Korean leader also seems to have changed.
Besides, Pyongyang seems to be directing media attention to two powerful women in North Korea.
Previously, Kim Jo-yong, leader Kim Jong-un’s younger sister, also attracted international media attention when she appeared in South Korea at the 2018 Winter Olympics.

Previously, world public opinion seemed to be familiar with the image of a fierce North Korea in every statement with South Korea, Japan or the United States.
When North Korea held a military parade in February, a day before South Korea opened the 2018 Winter Olympics, observers speculated about a dim future for the regional situation.
Images of missiles and fighter planes have been replaced by promotional songs and art shows.
